site.btaPresident Radev Discusses Bilateral Cooperation with European Countries' Leaders at Blenheim Palace
President Rumen Radev has discussed bilateral cooperation with the heads of state and government of several European countries at Blenheim Palace near Oxford, the head of State’s press secretariat said on Thursday. Radev is visiting the UK to participate in the 4th European Political Community Summit.
Deepening Bulgaria's partnership with the Netherlands and Denmark in investment and education was the highlight of Radev's talks with the prime ministers of the two countries, Dick Schoof and Mette Frederiksen. Bilateral security cooperation and the fight against illegal migration were also among the topics of discussion.
The Bulgarian President expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic’s Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, for his country’s timely response and for supporting the efforts to quell the wildfires raging across Bulgaria by dispatching helicopters.
During a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart, Maia Sandu, Radev reaffirmed Bulgaria's support for ensuring the country’s security and European integration. The head of State also expressed Bulgaria’s stance in favor of the preservation of the territorial integrity of Moldova’s Taraclia District, which is home to a large part of the country's Bulgarian community.
Further expansion of the economic and investment cooperation between Bulgaria and Germany was the focus of Radev's talks with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The Bulgarian President and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban discussed the prospects for ending Russia's war against Ukraine and ensuring peace in Europe. The sides agreed that this war poses a major threat to peace and stability in Europe and has grave consequences not only for Russia and Ukraine but for the entire region.
Radev conferred with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev discussed the opportunities for building on bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, energy diversification, and increasing the security of energy supplies from Azerbaijan to our region.
The prospects for deepening global cooperation to achieve global security in the light of the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics were the highlight of the talks Radev held with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
The Bulgarian Head of State congratulated Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama for the national census, noting that it was conducted transparently, in line with democratic standards, and gave Bulgarians there the opportunity to freely exercise their right to self-identification.
During talks with the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, Radev expressed hope that North Macedonia will speed up the implementation of the bilateral Treaty of Friendship, Good-neighborliness and Cooperation with Bulgaria and the country's agreements with the European Union in order to pave the way for starting negotiations for the country’s full-fledged EU membership.
In a conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Radev highlighted the Alliance’s role in guaranteeing the security of the EU Member States in the deteriorated international security environment resulting from Russia's war against Ukraine.
The security partnership between Bulgaria and the Swiss Confederation was the focus of the talks between Presidents Rumen Radev and Viola Amherd.
