Commenting on the attempt on the life of former US President Donald Trump in a press statement, one of the two Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) chairs Dzhevdet Chakarov said Sunday that political violence has no place in society, especially in the 21st century when people are called upon to resolve their differences with dialogue and respect.
"It is with deep concern and outrage that we have learned of the unprecedented shooting at Donald Trump. This lawlessness is unacceptable and reprehensible," Chakarov stressed, adding that this is not just an attack on one man, but an assault on the foundations of democracy.
"We strongly condemn this barbaric act and call on all political forces and citizens to unite in the name of peace and understanding," the statement further read.
Former US president Donald Trump, the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party for the upcoming presidential election in the US, was shot in the right ear during a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday evening, Reuters reported, quoting a statement of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
