A new parliamentary group was established in Brussels on Wednesday - "Europe of Sovereign Nations” (ESN), which brings together 25 MEPs from eight countries in the European Parliament, Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov told journalists, adding that the group is the fruit of the efforts of his party for almost a year.

Kostadinov said that the first talks between Vazrazhdane and Alternative for Germany (AfD) date back to June of 2023, followed by talks with other political parties, the conference of the new leaders of Europe and the adoption of the Sofia Declaration on the establishment of a common parliamentary group and a common European political party after the European elections on June 9.

"After the elections, this process deepened and yesterday the creation of such a group was signed, which is called "Europe of sovereign nations". It currently brings together 25 MEPs from eight countries - Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania and France. Next week, a Spanish party is to join - the countries will become nine and the MEPs 28. By the end of September, another Slovak and another German will have joined - that makes 30. By the end of the year, we have negotiations with seven more countries, which are currently running in parallel. At the end of 2024, I expect the group to exceed 40 people and to become one of the main factors in the EP," Kostadinov said. In his words, this is the sixth group that currently exists in the European Parliament.

Vazrazhdane is the second political force in the new group. Its member Stanislav Stoyanov is deputy floor leader, and Petar Volgin is to be its spokesman. The European Sovereigntist Party is to be established by the end of September. The only nomination for the chairmanship of this party at this stage is Stanislav Stoyanov, Kostadinov explained.

In his words, a petition and a declaration will be submitted in mid-July to the EP with a request to support a referendum on the preservation of the Bulgarian lev.

Kostadinov also commented on the situation in the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. According to him, such clashes within MRF usually end in heart attacks, strokes, or suicides, and it looks like the New Beginning has been devoured by the Old.
