The governing body of the Velichie party, the Central Council, has called on Nikolay Markov and Viktoria Vassileva to resign as Floor Leader and Deputy Parliament Chair, respectively. This transpired on Thursday from a post on the Velichie website .

The post reads that the Central Council of the party has held an extraordinary meeting "in connection with the complicated political situation in the Velichie parliamentary group" and has decided that the party "strongly distances itself from the actions and words of MPs Nikolay Markov and Viktoria Vassileva".

The Council also calls on the MPs of the Parliamentary Group to elect a new Floor Leader and a new Deputy Parliament Chair from Velichie.

On Tuesday, Markov wrote in a Facebook post that he suspends his participation in all meetings with the public that are organized by Velichie. He urged his followers and sympathizers "to spread the word across the country and beyond that the Velichie political party is only Ivelin Mihaylov and his pseudo-economic group of strawmen and dependents".

Earlier in the day, Markov was asked by reporters in Parliament whether he could be expelled from the party’s parliamentary group. He said that anything is possible when "the Parliament is run from the outside", specifying that "there are Velichie MPs who are involved in various financial schemes and cannot take decisions independently".

He did not rule out the possibility of giving up the chairmanship of the party’s parliamentary group.
