The National Assembly is hearing caretaker Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitar Glavchev, caretaker Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov, and caretaker Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nevyana Miteva on Bulgaria's position for the upcoming NATO summit from July 9 to 11 in Washington. This is the first item on the agenda for Thursday, published on the National Assembly's website. The hearing is at the suggestion of the parliamentary group of Velichie.

At the request of BSP for Bulgaria, the MPs will also hear caretaker Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov on the issue of Bulgaria's non-participation in any form with live armed and unarmed force in the military conflict in Ukraine.

Glavchev is also summoned to Parliament at the initiative of Vazrazhdane to present information on the development of the EU enlargement process after the adoption of the so-called French proposal, the harsh anti-Bulgarian campaign and statements of a large part of the political elite in North Macedonia, as well as the actions already taken and planned to protect Bulgarian national interests in these issues.

Sending Bulgarian troops to Ukraine is out of the question, such a topic has not been discussed, nor will it be discussed, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev was adamant during the hearing.

There is nothing worrisome in the position, Bulgaria's national interests are taken into account, as well as allied interests, he assured.

Earlier, BSP’s Korneliya Ninova Glavchev and Zapryanov either to declassify the position document or to close the parliamentary sitting.

The treaties with other NATO member states are secret and cannot be declassified, Glavchev explained.
