The National Assembly is voting on the draft cabinet proposed by GERB-UDF at 1:00 pm, according to the schedule of Parliament.
According to the Constitution, the National Assembly adopts laws and other acts by a majority of more than half of the deputies present. That is, with 240 registered MPs, 121 votes in favour are needed to elect GERB-UDF’s prime minister designate. The structure and composition of the cabinet is then voted on.
President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova will attend the National Assembly sitting, the head of state's press secretariat said.
On July 1, GERB-UDF’s nominee for prime minister Rosen Zhelyazkov accepted the exploratory mandate to form a government from President Radev. Later, the head of State issued a decree proposing that the 50th National Assembly elect the candidate for prime minister Rosen Zhelyazkov.
Receiving the mandate, Zhelyazkov stressed the strong Euro-Atlantic orientation of the government proposed by the first political force and announced the main priorities related to stabilization, normalization of public finances, and clear legislative deadlines.
