Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev confirmed to Bulgarian journalists in Brussels on Thursday evening that he will lead the Bulgarian delegation to the NATO summit in Washington in early July. Asked whether he would take on the task after President Rumen Radev's refusal, Glavchev said there was no one else left.
"Considering that we are talking about the head of State, the Commander-in-chief and a NATO general, I said that it makes sense for President Radev to head the delegation. I have no idea what embarrassed, frightened and worried him. The position of the Council of Ministers is routine. This has been the established practice over the years - to have a shared position between the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs, confirmed by a government decision. I have no idea what worried President Radev, you should ask him," Glavchev said.
He said that Bulgaria's position is in line with all the decisions of the National Assembly. "I guarantee that we will not shift away from the decisions of the National Assembly," he added.
