Bulgarian caretaker Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dimitar Glavchev on Thursday  conferred with His Britannic Majesty's Ambassador in Sofia, Dr Rob Dixon, who is leaving Bulgaria after completing his four-year tour here, the Government Information Office said.

"You will always be welcome to our country, and I hope that you will have numerous occasions and opportunities to visit Bulgaria from now on!" Glavchev told Dixon. The PM thanked the Ambassador for his significant contribution to the advancement of bilateral cooperation and noted that significant success has been achieved during his tour. "The active interaction of the British Embassy with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the Bulgarian institutions laid the foundations for the pursuit of our strategic partnership," the head of government pointed out.

He singled out the fine cooperation in security, defence, energy, border control, migration, counter-terrorism, justice, the judicial system, economy and investment.

The two concurred on the crucial importance of the two countries' continued help of Ukraine. Glavchev said he discussed the matter with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. "We set great store by support for Ukraine. We will continue to help Ukraine in their absolutely just cause in the war with Russia," the Bulgarian PM stressed.

He reiterated that Bulgaria will make a specific contribution to the recovery of Ukraine, "for which we will be working together with all democracies."

Glavchev expressed a strong desire for the active political dialogue at all levels between the two countries to be carried on when the newly appointed British Ambassador to Bulgaria Nathaniel Copsey takes office this coming August.
