"Today's vote opens up an opportunity for the normal development of political processes and the effective functioning of State power," 50th National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan said here on Thursday after she was elected to the position.

She pointed out that, regardless of the level of public trust, the National Assembly is a platform legitimating the executive and the legislative branches of government. "Therefore, it is our shared responsibility to enable a normalization of political processes and live up to public expectations of stability, security and justice," the head of Parliament said.

She told the MPs that they can count on her readiness to engage in dialogue, fairness and equal footing, and unconditional observances of the Constitution, the laws, and the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.

The oldest MP Silvi Kirilov handed over to Nazaryan the presidency of the plenary sitting and wished her a successful term in office.
