site.btaGERB Leader Borissov Visits Villages in Veliko Tarnovo Municipality Damaged by Hailstorm

Visiting the villages that were most seriously damaged by a hailstorm in Veliko Tarnovo municipality, GERB leader Boyko Borissov said Saturday that he pledges to help the locals if a government is formed next week. Borissov was quoted in a GERB press release.

Together with Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov, Borisov visited the village of Sheremetya where he met with owners of car dealerships that suffered serious damage because of the hailstorm earlier this week. Panov explained that more than 12 car dealerships in the area suffered damage exceeding a total of BGN 2.5 million. Hundreds of damaged households are being inventoried by municipal commissions so that the victims can receive aid of up to BGN 1,560 from the Labour and Social Policy Ministry, Panov explained.

Borissov pointed out that if GERB forms a government next week and there is a functioning parliament, he and his party's parliamentary group are committed to use all mechanisms of the state to help businesses and people affected by the disaster.

He stressed that the National Assembly should create a special fund to allocate financial aid automatically when natural disaster occurs and causes damage.
