Speaking to journalists ahead of the opening of the temporary exhibition "The Lords of Salt: Provadia - The Salt Works" at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Vice President Iliana Iotova said that a government must be formed, and the responsibility lies with GERB and the party's leader Boyko Borissov.

According to Iotova, for such a government to succeed, a new formula is needed, which Borissov should propose. "The formula should be radically different from the formula we had only a few months ago, to exclude any suspicions in the Bulgarian citizens about backstage deals and agreements," she said.

She also commented on the voter turnout at the June 9 elections for the National Assembly. "The most worrying sign is that people do not believe in the political system in Bulgaria. A very worrying amalgam of apathy and protest vote. Any political force that wants to have a future must analyze this situation very carefully and read what the voters said and understand it," Iotova said.

The Vice President stressed that she does not want the country to fall into an even worse situation because, in her words, besides foreign policy positions, there are many problems inside the country related to the loss of EU funds.
