"Bulgaria will not send troops to the territory of Ukraine," the Bulgarian Defence Ministry reiterated in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

"The National Assembly alone is competent to resolve on the commitment of Bulgarian troops to operations outside this country's territory. Such a proposal has never been in the order of the day," the Ministry added.

"We recall that, implementing a National Assembly resolution, this country has committed to participate in the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM UA). The personnel training is being held in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Poland and other EU Member States. The training of up to 60 combat aidmen for one year is envisaged to take place in Bulgaria within the framework of the EUMAM UA mission," the post said further.

In late May, the Defence Ministry stated that Bulgaria will by no means commit any service persons to Ukrainian territory.
