The Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council Sofia on Wednesday unanimously decided to release Radoslav Dimov from his position as Sofia Appellate Prosecutor, accepting his resignation.

On March 26, Dimov was heard by a parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee of Inquiry into the Facts and Circumstances Surrounding the Activity of the Crime Group around Martin "the Notary" Bozhanov. A month earlier, he was also heard in the Prosecutors Chamber in connection with the same case. Then, he stated that he did not know Bozhanov and wanted to clear his name. He also said that his health had deteriorated.

At the Prosecutors Chamber meeting on Wednesday, member Ognyan Damyanov reported that Dimov had disclosed to an internal prosecutor forum that the baseless attacks on him and his relatives have caused his health condition to deteriorate.

Dimov will receive an honorary badge and BGN 1,500 upon leaving the system.

Martin "the Notary" Bozhanov was shot dead in a gated complex in a Sofia suburb on the evening of January 31. According to media reports, he was a large-scale fixer of people's problems with the judiciary. He has been implicated in building a network of connections with prosecutors and judges whom he allegedly bribed, threatened, blackmailed or otherwise pressured to treat his "clients" favourably.
