Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Stefan Dimitrov told reporters here on Friday that he will keep his post, unless President Rumen Radev decrees Dimitrov's dismissal.

The Minister added: "Even if there is no decree, I will find a way to end my commitment as foreign minister, if we cannot work in a team that allows us to reach the goals we have set."

He commented on his communication with Radev, saying that he communicates with the Presidential administration in his role as a foreign minister and not in his personal capacity.

Dimitrov said that he sees no grounds for critique aimed at his professional qualifications, however, he added that he is not a politician but a diplomat. "I have no doubts that the right person will be chosen for this position if it is not me," he said.

The Foreign Minister reported that his communication with the caretaker Prime Minister, Dimitar Glavchev, has been going on with no interruption. He added: "We had a few words with the Prime Minister in private. We continue to work together until a decree for my dismissal, until my discretion or until a mutual discretion that we can no longer work together."

On April 15, Glavchev proposed that Dimitrov be dismissed, and the post be filled by GERB deputy leader and former foreign minister Daniel Mitov. On April 18, Mitov said that he was ready to take over the post, however on April 19, he withdrew his candidacy for the post.
