site.btaDefence Minister Zapryanov Praises NATO's Multinational Battle Group for Professionalism

Caretaker Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov, who spoke during the visit of the Presidents of Bulgaria and Italy, Rumen Radev and Sergio Mattarella, to the military base at Novo Selo, said that NATO's multinational battle group is one the Alliance's solutions for a real presence of allied forces that are [responsible for] the collective defence of the eastern flank. The Defence Minister shared that he expected that the 2024 Washington summit will evaluate highly both Bulgaria's battle group and all NATO forces deployed on the eastern flank. He thanked the servicepersons for the professional performance of their tasks and highlighted their important role in strengthening the prestige of the Bulgarian armed forces among the allies.

Radev and Mattarella were at the military base to meet the national contingents of the NATO battle group in Bulgaria.

During the joint briefing of Presidents Radev and Mattarella, the excellent interaction and the high level of joint training of the Bulgarian and Italian armed forces were noted, as well as the contribution of the other Member States.

Radev praised the Bulgarian servicepersons for their responsible actions, which contribute to the security of the country, the entire region, and are an important condition for political and economic stability and for the overall development of Bulgaria.
