Representatives of the Association of the Prosecutors in Bulgaria (APB), Chamber of Investigators in Bulgaria, Bulgarian Judges Association and the Association of the Administration of the Judiciary (SAOSV) said here on Monday that the drafting of the new Judicial System Act has not taken into account the opinions of the professional organizations in the field. The representatives shared a common opinion that the amendments to the Constitution in the judiciary part are unconstitutional.

Vladimir Nikolov of the APB criticized the draft of the Judicial System Act, which is supposed to introduce amendments to the Constitution, for suffering from significant flaws, being based on a wrong idea and discriminating against certain judicial orders.

Preslava Petkova of the Chamber of Investigators in Bulgaria said that some provisions are illogical. She stated that the Constitutional Court should rule on the amendments first before they get put to the vote.

The forum agreed that the amendment to the Constitution and the Judicial System Act in their current form will lead to a dependent prosecution service, which serves the powerful of the day.
