The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced a public procurement for the provision of machine voting for the 2-in-1 elections in June for members of the European Parliament and snap parliamentary elections.

At its meeting on Tuesday, the CEC terminated the announced public procurement for the provision of machine voting only for the European elections. Earlier in the day, President Rumen Radev issued appointed a caretaker government and scheduled elections for the National Assembly and for members of the European Parliament on June 9.

The estimated value of the public procurement for securing the machine vote is BGN 9,879,720 including VAT. It includes activities such as testing the voting machines and the built-in printers and smart card readers; preparation, installation of an operating system and application software, parameterization and equipping of the specialized machine voting devices, technical maintenance on pre-election and election day and the establishment of a support centre. This would cost around BGN 8,938,920 including VAT.

The public procurement also provides for the logistics of the voting devices to the polling stations, which will cost around BGN 940,800 including VAT.
