site.btaProf. Dr. Miglena Temelkova Elected Chair of Council of Rectors

The Rector of the University of Telecommunications and Posts, Prof. Dr. Miglena Temelkova, was elected on Wednesday as the Chair of the Council of Rectors. She takes over the post from Acad. Lachezar Traykov. Prof. Temelkova won the election with 27 votes, competing in a run-off with the Rector of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, who received 19 votes, the council said.

The General Reporting and Election Assembly of the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria on Wednesday was attended by 49 rectors, with the required quorum of 25. Acad. Traykov presented his report on the activities of the Council for the past term and was sent off with applause and thanks for the work done by his colleagues.

Outgoing Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov joined in at the end of the meeting to greet the new Council Chair.

The Council of Rectors unites the leadership of all Bulgarian universities with different fields of study and scientific activities, and with different scales and place in the world list of universities, the association's website states.
