site.btaIn Sofia, Sir Graham Watson Joins Public Debate on EU in the World

A former British Member of the European Parliament, Sir Graham Watson, joined a public debate here on Friday on "The EU in the World: Where Are We Today?"

The debate was organized by Bulgarian MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk of the Renew Europe Group.

"Major problems are global, and they seek joint solutions. Joint solutions can be found only when the EU talks with the rest of the world," Kyuchyuk said during the event.

He argued for the need of a reform within the framework of the EU because the EU is currently demonstrating is inffectiveness from the point of view of its own citizens and a number of crises: a food prices, an energy criris, a crisis in the EU about adoption the concept of continuous EU enlargement.

In his words, the last two major crises have shown that the EU is capable of coping with challenges on its own.
