site.btaCabinet Designates Members of National Council for Domestic Violence Prevention
At its sitting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers designated the members of the National Council for Prevention and Protection from Domestic Violence, which will start working. The National Council is a specialised, permanent, collective and consultative body under the Council of Ministers for the implementation of the State policy to combat domestic violence. It coordinates, monitors and evaluates the policies and measures taken by the institutions involved.
The National Council will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Mariya Gabriel. Minister of Justice Atanas Slavov has been appointed as the Deputy Chair. The other members of the National Council include: Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Ivanka Shalapatova, Minister of Health Hristo Hinkov, Minister of Education and Science Galin Tzokov, Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev, as well as representatives of the Supreme Court of Cassation, the State Agency for Child Protection, the Agency for Social Assistance, the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria, and representatives of the non-governmental sector.
