site.btaAustrian Wanted in Germany for ID Forgery Arrested in Bulgaria

An Austrian citizen wanted on a European arrest warrant issued by the court in the German Danubian town of Passau was detained in Ognen, near Karnobat in Southeastern Bulgaria, the Interior Ministry reported on Thursday. The 54-year-old man faces criminal charges for possession of counterfeit identity documents.

The arrest was made by officers of the Directorate General of National Police and the Burgas Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior upon an alert from the Directorate of International Operative Cooperation (DIOC).

The news about the arrest was reported to the DIOC and the competent prosecution office in Bulgaria. They are expected to take further actions in connection with the European arrest warrant.
