GERB has nominated its floor leader Dessislava Atanassova for a judge in the Constitutional Court. The nomination was announced by party leader Boyko Borissov Thursday. Borissov said he "has decided to become floor leader" after Atanassova leaves Parliament.
"You all know her. She was in the past nine parliaments, in all legal committees. An outstanding and experienced lawyer who deserved credit for lots of laws, tens of laws," Borissov said.
Borissov said that many political personalities have later gone to the Constitutional Court. "Atanassova will do a great job there," he said.
Commenting the news of her nomination, Atanassova said that law is her big dream. She admitted that she lacks experience as a magistrate but said she has extensive parliamentary experience. Asked if she will make an objective Constitutional Court judge after being in politics for so long, and if she would answer the phone when somebody from GERB calls her, she said she will take personal calls but they better not call her for anything related to her possible work with the Constitutional Court.
