A total of 14,000 Bulgarian students will be developing their practical skills under the UniCredit Foundation and Junior Achievement Re-power Your Future educational project. This transpired at a meeting between Education and Science Minister Galin Tzokov and representatives of the two organizations, the Ministry’s press center reported on Friday.

"We have launched a series of reforms, and our goal is to lay the foundation for a comprehensive change in the way students' knowledge is assessed – from learning by heart to forming skills and competences," Tzokov said. "That is why the Education Ministry will cooperate with the non-governmental sector, social partners, and business in projects and initiatives that help students better prepare for their professional and personal development," he added.

The Re-power Your Future project is jointly carried out in several European countries. It will be launched in Bulgaria in January 2024 and will be carried out in schools in the regions of Sofia, Burgas, Varna, Targovishte, Dobrich, Pleven, and Ruse.

The schools that will be part of the pilot phase have been selected on a competitive basis by Junior Achievement Bulgaria based on their motivation and data provided by the Education Ministry.

The main activities include training for teachers and a number of practice-oriented programmes for students, including financial literacy and skills training outside the classroom, innovation camps, career skills webinars and workshops, visits to local companies, and summer internship opportunities.

Students aged 10 to 19 will be involved so they can develop key knowledge and skills important for their full participation in social and economic life.
