Hristo Stefanov was appointed Deputy Interior Minister by order of the Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, the government press service said here on Monday.

He holds a Master's degree in law from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. From June 2023 until now, he was Interior Ministry’s Legal and Regulatory Directorate Director.

He worked in Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Counter-Terrorism General Directorate in 2021 - 2023. From 2015 to 2021 he was head of General Directorate for Combating Organised Crime, and in the period 2011-2015 Stefanov worked at Criminal Police General Directorate and General Directorate National Police.

From 2003 to 2011, he was employed at the Pernik Police Department and the General Directorate of Pre-Trial Proceedings as an investigating police officer.
