Minister Stoycheva Discusses Enhanced Cooperation between Sofia and Valencia in Innovation Field During Working Visit

Cooperation in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and start-ups was discussed on Wednesday at a working meeting between Bulgarian Minister of Innovation and Growth Milena Stoycheva and Valencia's Regional Minister for Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism Nuria Montes. The meeting was aso attended by Valencia's Regional Secretary of Innovation, Jerónimo Mora Pascual, and Bulgaria's Consul General in Valencia Nadia Krasteva, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth reported on Wednesday evening.

Stoycheva and Montes discussed the development of innovation in the fields of health, bioeconomy and food, among others. Montes said that the auto, agriculture and food sectors in the region are very well developed.

"Innovation is created on the basis of research and development. The Innovation and Growth Ministry works in collaboration with universities and the whole academic community, as well as with the Ministry of Education and Science," Stoycheva said.

During the workshop, Stoycheva and Montes outlined steps to strengthen cooperation between Sofia and the Valencia Region in the field of innovation. 

The Bulgarian delegation's visit to Spain included Minister Stoycheva's participation in the informal Competitiveness Council of the European Union in the "Space" segment on 7 November. At the meeting, EU Ministers responsible for Space discussed space strategic autonomy and sustainability. The debate was also joined by EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton, the European Commission's Director-General for Defence and Space, Timo Pesonen, and the Director-General of the European Space Agency, Josef Aschbacher.
