MP Slavena Tocheva of GERB-UDF has asked to leave the legislature, Parliament's press office told BTA.

In her application to leave, she only cited the provision in the law that allows her to do so. No other motives are mentioned.

At the April 2, 2023 general elections, Tocheva made it to Parliament after winning the most ever preferential votes: the staggering 10,155.

Preferential votes are an option for voters, which allows them to re-arrange the candidates on the party tickets and secure a parliamentary seat for somebody who is otherwise too low in the list to be elected.

Tocheva was elected in a Varna constituency. She sits on the committees of environment and of tourism.

She was an MP in the last four Parliaments.
