Taking questions from the public and the press in a Q&A session on social media Wednesday, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said the Central Election Commission (CEC) did poorly in the recent local elections. "This time CEC did not do a good job organizing the elections," he said.

The Prime Minister takes questions from citizens on social media at the beginning of each month.

According to him, there is a problem with the CEC and its composition needs to be changed "because it does not reflect the current reality". This should be done by the National Assembly, the Prime Minister added.

Denkov said that the Ministry of e-Government has done its job well. “I have asked for a probe with clear indications as to why the problem with the machines happened. Then we will decide how to proceed," Denkov said, adding that it would be completely inappropriate to change ministers at the moment.

The "problem" he was referring to was a perceived security breech which led to the exclusion of machines from the voting process in the first round of the local elections on October 29.
