Everything that should have been done by the presidential institution, I guarantee you, has been done, Vice President Iliana Iotova told journalists here on Tuesday when asked about the Bulgarians kidnapped by Hamas. She added that more discretion was needed in this case. "This is not a case that can be used for public relations purposes. I hope that soon the citizens who have been kidnapped and who have Bulgarian roots will return home. We will all work for that," the Vice President said.

Iotova refused to comment on Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov's renarks that only the President can control the security services, as the heads of the services are appointed by the President. But she said she did not believe it was good for Bulgaria for the matter to be commented in such a way.

Regarding the Prime Minister's demand that Plamen Tonchev be dismissed as head of the State Agency for National Security, Iotova said that the question is entirely within the President's powers.

The Vice President visited the National Museum of History  for the opening of the renewed exposition about the Bulgarian lands under Ottoman rule in 15th-19th centuries.
