European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides, who is on a working visit to Bulgaria, discussed with Health Minister Hristo Hinkov the topics of drug policy, the treatment of oncological diseases and mental health.

Commissioner Kyriakides told journalists that the two talked about common priorities for a stable European Health Union, and she presented a proposal for pharmaceutical reform, which is one of the pillars of the European Health Union. The reforms are already being discussed in the European Parliament. The aim of the proposal is to create a single market for medicines in the European Union and to ensure that effective and safe medicines are available to European citizens, and that all patients, regardless of where they live in the EU, have access to safe, effective and innovative medicines, she added.
