Continue the Change -Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) co-leader Hristo Ivanov said the current government is without an alternative. He was speaking at a news conference of the coalition Monday after its Sofia mayoral candidate, Vassil Terziev, won the Sunday runoffs against the candidate of a Socialist-led coalition, Vanya Grigorova.
That Bulgaria has a government and is not in an extended parliamentary crisis, is thanks to common sense and the responsibility of the entire coalition. All of us are paying the price of this government. Our coalition is clearly paying and so are our colleagues in GERB.
Political passions have settled thanks to having a government and the government has a responsibility to keep it like this - not to put the country to risk.
Asked to comment a remark by GERB leader Boyko Borissov in the election night on Sunday that Bulgaria is run by "a vile assemblage", Ivanov said that decisions in the government are made with "the common sense of the coalition".
As for Borissov's threat that GERB might reconsider its support for the government, Ivanov said they would wait to see what decision GERB will make at their upcoming national meeting. "I don't see an alternative to this government," he added. Also attending the news conference were Democratic Bulgaria co-leaders Atanas Atanassov and Vladislav Panev and Boris Bonev of Save Sofia, which was also part of the coalition behind Terziev.
