Border police officers intercepted a truck transporting 12 illegal migrants near the southeastern town of Yambol, the Interior Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

The truck driver, a 55-year-old Bulgarian, tried to flee, but has also been detained.

The migrants, who were hiding in the truck’s cargo compartment, did not have identification documents with them. They identified themselves as Syrians.
