Parliament Approves on First Reading Amendments to Administration Act

Parliament approved Thursday on first reading, 125-41 with one abstention, amendments to the Administration Act submitted by GERB-UDF Floor Leader Desislava Atanasova. The bill was carried by votes from GERB-UDF, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. The votes against came from Vazrazhdane and There Is Such a People. The one abstaining was an MP of BSP for Bulgaria.

The bill regulates the performance of the duties of the prime minister when they are is abroad or have taken a leave and their deputy cannot exercise their powers also due to absence from this country, a leave, or inability to be authorized to represent the prime minister. The bill envisages that in such cases, the prime minister may delegate their powers to a minister designated by them by a written order on a case by case basis.
