The Energy Committee and the National Assembly both rejected Friday a decision that would have obliged the government to report on the outcome of negotiations with the European Commission on amendments to the Recovery and Resilience Plan for the energy sector and to postpone the deadline for the approval of the Territorial Just Transition Plans from September 29 to October 15.

The draft decision would have required the cabinet to carry out consultation with social partners before approving the Territorial Just Transition Plans.

During the Committee meeting, Deputy Energy Minister Krassimir Nenov pointed out that the Plans have been in the works for years, but no progress has been made because of the high sensitivity on the energy transition issue. He noted that the current government had made progress over the summer and added that many information meetings have been held in Pernik, Kyustendil and "especially Stara Zagora", and the opinions and comments expressed have been reflected in the updated versions of the Territorial Plans.
