Bulgaria is a top five destination for Polish tourists, with more than 250,000 visitors since the beginning of 2023, a 19% increase compared to the same period last year, said Minister of Tourism Zaritsa Dinkova during a meeting with the Secretary of State in the Polish Sports Ministry, Andrzej Gut-Mostowy.

Dinkova is on a working visit to Poland on the occasion of the Second European Congress of Sports and Tourism and the third bilateral meeting of tourism experts. She stressed that this year 21 Bulgarian beaches and one marina have been awarded the Blue Flag certificate, while 11 Bulgarian hotels have been awarded the Green Key certificate. Another good example is Albena, one of the leading Bulgarian resorts, presented as a best practice for waste management, local food sourcing and renewable energy at the informal meeting of EU Eco-Ministers in Stockholm this April. "These examples clearly show the transformation of the Bulgarian tourism industry into a more competitive, sustainable and digital one," Dinkova said.

Gut-Mostowy said: "Tourism is of great importance not only for the economy, but also for establishing and strengthening ties between our peoples and cultures. Traditionally, Bulgaria is a place that many Poles choose for their holidays".

Dinkova also met with Polish President Andrzej Duda, who attended the European Congress of Sports and Tourism. The news that Poland will host the 2027 Summer Olympics was also announced at the forum.
