National Assembly Chair Zhelyazkov Arrives on Official Visit to Georgia

A Bulgarian parliamentary delegation led by National Assembly Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov arrived in Georgia Thursday on an official visit which will last until September 15. The visit is taking place at the invitation of Georgian Parliament Chair Shalva Papuashvili.

The delegation was welcomed in Tbilisi by Georgian National Assembly Deputy Chair Archil Talakvadze and Georgian  Ambassador to Bulgaria Otar Berdzenishvili. Bulgaria's Ambassador to Georgia Vesselin Valkanov was also present.

A wreath-laying ceremony is scheduled for Friday at the Heroes Memorial, which honours all those who died protecting the territorial integrity of Georgia. After that, Zhelyazkov and the delegation will meet with Papuashvili and the two chairmen will make a joint media statement.

A meeting with Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili is also planned. The delegation will talk with Deputy Prime Minister and Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Levan Davitashvili and will visit the EU Monitoring Mission.

The MPs on the delegation are Alexander Ivanov (GERB-UDF), Daniel Lorer (Continue the Change), Yordan Todorov (Vazrazhdane), Bayram Bayram (Movement for Rights and Freedoms), Petar Kanev (BSP for Bulgaria) and Toshko Yordanov (Floor Leader of There Is Such a People).
