site.btaParliament Suspends Plenary Sittings in Run-Up to Local Elections

Bulgaria's National Assembly on Thursday voted, 124-33, to suspend its plenary sittings for the period from September 11 to 27, 2023 on account of the October 29 local elections.

The full house will sit on September 18 and 19, September 25 and 26 and October 2 and 3. The plenary sittings suspension applies to October 11-13, October 18-20 and October 25-27.

The resolution was added to the agenda on a motion by National Assembly Deputy Chair Nikola Minchev, who presided over Thursday’s plenary. He explained that the draft had been considered by Parliament’s Presiding Body in connection with the election campaign.
