site.btaGERB-UDF Floor Leader Atanassova: Leaders of Cabinet-supporting Formations Discuss Priorities in Person

Talking to reporters here on Friday, GERB-UDF floor leader Dessislava Atanassova said that the trust between her political coalition and that of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) is so difficult to build that every word could be too much, particularly in a day such as the present one, and it is more important to show humility. "I will even swallow the Prime Minister's words without a comment," she added. 

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov told the media in reply to a question about trust that when the priority tasks pass and there is a positive result, then he would be able to say there is trust. 

"The important thing is that there was a meeting between the parties supporting the Government on Friday. Let us not package it as a leaders' meeting. There, in a working and professional fashion, we specified the important priorities in the way we declared them at the start of the plenary session," Atanassova said.

Earlier in the day, Continue the Change co-leader Kiril Petkov said that they had agreed with GERB-UDF on 13 priority acts to be put to the vote during this parliamentary session. Atanassova specified that these are the acts that will ensure the second payment under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and will make Bulgaria's entry in the eurozone possible.

She also specified that the leaders of the cabinet-supporting formations talk about their priorities in the new political season in person, and not by phone.

It transpired from Atanassova's words that the meeting was also attended by representatives of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. That party participated in the talks about constitutional changes, which will be among the main topics in Parliament's work this session, she noted.

The meeting also focused on the fastest way to repair the damages caused by the floods earlier this week and what legislative changes the Council of Ministers will table to put the emphasis on prevention in the future, Atanassova told reporters.
