Government elected Mariya Gabriel Chair of the National Council for Prevention and Protection Against Domestic Violence on Thursday. The Protection Against Domestic Violence Act was among the priorities of the 49th National Assembly and was adopted in its first session.

The National Council for Prevention and Protection Against Domestic Violence will be a specialized, permanent, collective and consultative body under the Council of Ministers for the implementation of the state policy to counter domestic violence. It will coordinate, monitor and evaluate the policies and measures taken by the institutions involved.
