The Ministry of Education and Science will work to increase targeted funding for kindergartens and the number of national programmes dedicated entirely to them in 2024, said Minister of Education and Science Galin Tsokov during a meeting with school and pre-school education directors from across the country. The discussion was organised by the union of principals in the system of public education and was opened by its chairman Diyan Stamatov, while MPs Krasimir Valchev, Mediha Enver Mehmed-Hamza and Daniel Lorer took part in the discussions, the press centre of the Ministry of Education and Science said on Thursday.

Minister Tsokov stressed that the adopted budget partly solves the problems with the lack of funding for kindergartens, but it is necessary to provide more resources for next year.

Among the topics discussed were changes in the competitions for the election of school directors, and the provision of funding for nurseries and kindergartens. Teachers and principals still face technical problems in working with the unified electronic system in education, Minister Tsokov said.

He said a number of meetings have already been held with the developers of the platform and they have been asked to act quickly to improve the system and continue to upgrade it.
