1856: One of the first Bulgarian stage plays, "Mihal Mishkoed" by Sava Dobroplodni, premieres in Shumen.

1892: Bulgaria's First Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition opens in Plovdiv.

1980: Diplomatic relations are established with the Seychelles.
