Bulgaria Wins 4 Medals at International Geography Olympiad

Bulgarian students won four medals at the 19th International Geography Olympiad in Bandung, Indonesia. They competed with nearly 200 other participants from 46 countries. The youngsters went through a quiz, field work and a multimedia exam, the Ministry of Education and Science said on Monday.

The boys won two bronze and two gold medals. The gold medals went to Denis Urumov, a student of the 91st German Language School "Prof. Konstantin Galabov" in Sofia and Mihail Paskalev from the Mathematics High School "Petar Beron" in Varna. The bronze award winners are Atanas Ivanov from the National High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences "Academician Lyubomir Chakalov", and Alexander Iliev from Sofia High School of Mathematics "Paisii Hilendarski".

The leaders of the team are Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Zhelev of Sofia University and Daniel Hristov of the National High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences "Academician Lyubomir Chakalov".
