site.btaSenior Commissioner Andrey Angelov Appointed New Director of Varna Police

Senior Commissioner Andrey Angelov was appointed as the new director of the police in Varna. He was presented to the media on Friday by Deputy Interior Minister Ivelina Dundakova and Interior Ministry Deputy Chief Secretary Zhivko Kotsev. 

Prior to his appointment, Angelov was the deputy director of the Varna police. Kotsev said that the former department head, Senior Commissioner Atanas Mihov, is at the disposal of the unit, which is directly subordinated to the Minister.

Kotsev pointed out that the work of the directorate in Varna is at a good level, but the current leadership of the Interior Ministry has even greater demands, including for an  increase in the pace of work. He specified that the adequate reaction of employees to reports of crimes against the person and domestic violence will be a main focus for the department.

Despite talks of a purge in the Interior Ministry, the leadership of the Ministry does not accept this definition, commented the Deputy Chief Secretary.

Kotsev stressed that Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov has the right and opportunity to form a team to work with and achieve the goals set for the department.

Deputy Minister Dundakova added that the personnel changes began immediately after the inauguration of the new leadership of the Interior Ministry, and were made on the basis of an analysis of the situation. The two did not comment on what changes of police directors are yet to come. 

Earlier in the day, new heads of police were also appointed in Plovdiv, Pazardzhik and Blagoevgrad.
