site.btaGovernment to Announce New Measures Supporting Female Victims of Violence - Social Policy Minister
Following an order by the Prime Minister, several ministries are elaborating an urgent plan with measures to increase the reaction after an act of violence as well as the overall support for female victims of violence, Labour and Social Policy Minister Ivanka Shalapatova told reporters here on Tuesday. She put a stress on the importance of prevention.
"If we do not work with children, give them options to protect themselves from the dangers but also make them realise the risks so that they can take adequate measures, even by seeking support early, then when a child or woman becomes a victim of violence, it is too late," the minister said. The services available for such victims are not enough and should be increased, she argued. It is very important to provide these women with access to quality emotional and psychological support, Shalapatova added.
