site.btaTurkiye's Unemployment at 9.2% in June, 0.7 pp Up from May

Turkiye's unemployment in June stood at 9.2%, said Turkstat, the national statistical institute. The jobless were an estimated 7.6% among men and 12.4% among women.

The unemployment increased by 0.7 pp from May.

According to a household labour force survey, the number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over increased by 234,000 to 3,305,000 in June 2024 compared to the previous month.

The number of employed persons decreased by 341,000 to 32,522,000 in June 2024 compared to the previous month. The employment rate stood at 49.3%, dropping by 0.6 pp. This rate was 66.9% for men and 32.1% for women.

The average work week was 44 hours in June.
