Dozens of Flights Cancelled in Turkiye due to Torrential Rains and Gale-force Winds

Torrential rains, gale-force winds and flooding in 44 Turkish provinces including in Istanbul caused disruptions to land and air traffic. 
 
On Sunday and Monday, the Turkish Airlines postponed dozens of domestic flights due to bad weather. Flights to Antalya, Sivas, Kahramanmaras and Erzurum have been cancelled. A spokesperson for Turkish Airlines said that it is possible that more flights are cancelled on Monday and warned passengers to follow updates by the air carrier.

There are no reports of cancelled international flights. 
 
Meanwhile, Istanbul’s Crisis management Centre (AKOM) said that on Sunday 20 districts of the city saw 221 l/sq m of rain. Many underpasses, residential buildings and roads are flooded. 
Trains on a stretch of the underground between Alibeykoy and Eminonu were stopped. 

The Istanbul’s Governor Office said that the rains, which are more intense in the European part, will continue on Monday. 

According to the national weather service the rains are expected to stop on Tuesday.
