On 17 October 1994, a woman headed the first caretaker government in Bulgaria's history. Reneta Indzhova was sworn in as Bulgaria's caretaker prime minister.

The caretaker government was appointed by decree of President Zhelyu Zhelev and remained in office until January 25, 1995.

Indzhova was appointed caretaker prime minister after the regular government of prime minister Prof. Lyuben Berov resigned on September 2, 1994.

Reneta Indzhova was born on July 6, 1953 in Nova Zagora (Central Bulgaria). She is the first and only woman prime minister of Bulgaria.
