The book The Pen of God”by Bulgarian poet Alexander Al. Hadzhihristov was awarded an honorary award by the Turkish Association for Arts and Literature SANATAEVET in Istanbul.
The award ceremony, organized jointly with the Bakirkoy Municipality, the Turkish Artshop publishing house, and the Bakirkoy and Fikirtepe Lions Clubs, took place at the Ispirtohane Cultural Centre in Atakoy on the shores of the Sea of Marmara in Istanbul on the occasion of World Arts Day, celebrated for the 15th time.
The jury awarded the prize to Alexander Al. Hadzhihristov for his poetry collection The Pen of God, which has been translated and published in Turkish.
“I believe that this will contribute to a wider recognition of Bulgarian authors by Turkish readers,” said Bulgarian writer Tamer Levent when presenting the award.
In addition to Hadzhihristov, artist Lyubomir Slavkov, author of the book’s cover and illustrations, as well as the translator of the novel, Sabriya Tete, were presented with honorary awards.
For her contribution to the implementation of the conceptual project, an honorary award was given to Alina Karahanova, long-time director of the Lexicon publishing house in Sofia, publisher of the original The Pen of God in Bulgarian.
The next day, a meeting was held at the “Hatay” Arts Club on the Asian coast of Istanbul with Alexander Al. Hadzhihristov and Alina Karahanova. The meeting was attended by famous Turkish writers, poets and cultural figures, who called for expanding cooperation and joint performances with Bulgarian artists in literature and art.
The Pen of God is a poetic book with unique illustrations. Each of the pictures was painted especially for the book, said Hadzhihristov, who is a director, playwright, artistic director, chief director and playwright.
