site.btaCabinet Nominates Alexander Kornezov for Seat on EU Court


The Council of Ministers approved Alexander Kornezov as a candidate of the Republic of Bulgaria for a seat on the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The decision was taken at Wednesday's meeting on the proposal of two ministers - Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev and Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev.
Kornezov is currently a judge at the EU General Court. He was born in 1978 and studied Law at Sofia University. He graduated with a master’s degree in European law at the College of Europe (Bruges). He was a lawyer at the Brussels Bar Association, taught European Union procedural law at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and at Sofia University. He is an associate professor of European Union law and private international law at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). From 2007 to 2016 he was a judicial assistant at the CJEU. Since 2019, he has also been a chamber president at the CJEU.
