site.btaBolhrad High School Gets Mobile Mini Football Pitch


The high school in Bolhrad, Ukraine, named after Bulgarian freedom fighter Georgi Rakovski, received a mobile football pitch as part of diplomatic cooperation between two European countries – Norway and Bulgaria. The official handover ceremony of the modern 3x3 mini football pitch, donated by the Norwegian charity foundation NORSKE STØTTEPASNINGER, took place at the Bolhrad high school with the participation of student athletes and their teachers.
The ceremony was attended by Bulgarian Consul General in Odesa Svetoslav Ivanov, Honorary Consul of Norway in Odesa Oleg Fomichev, First Secretary of the Bulgarian Consulate General in Odesa Boris Borisov, among other officials.
At the high school, the guests were welcomed by the head of the Bolhrad District Military Administration, Mykhailo Sharafanenko, Bolhrad Mayor Serhii Dmytriiev, and the school’s principal, Snezhana Skorich, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Norwegian and Bulgarian consulates for their support of educational and sports initiatives.
The event gathered over 100 student athletes from fifth to eleventh grade. Individual winners of local sports competitions, as well as teams, were awarded certificates and medals by Principal Snezhana Skorich.
Founded in 1821 by Bulgarian settlers, Bolhrad is considered the unofficial capital of the Bessarabian Bulgarians and the cultural centre of Bulgarian communities in Bessarabia.
