site.btaParliament Asked to Ratify Statute of FOEDUS European Organ Exchange Association

At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers approved a proposal to the National Assembly to ratify the Statute of the FOEDUS European Organ Exchange Association. Based on the minutes of a Cabinet meeting on March 1, 2023, the Director of the Executive Agency Medical Supervision (EAMS) submitted a written request for the Agency to join the FOEDUS European Organ Exchange Association.

Membership in the Association does not limit Bulgaria's participation in other present and future EU mechanisms, international organ exchange organizations, or bilateral cooperation agreements.

By participating in the Association, the Executive Agency Medical Supervision expands the possibilities for saving the lives of patients in need of transplants by receiving or providing organs in donor situations in Bulgaria and Europe. The Agency's membership in the Association is in keeping with Bulgaria's Act on Transplantation of Organs, Tissues and Cells.
